Parents and schools need to work together for the betterment of the students. Parents play an important role in providing support and building the confidence of their children. Heritage Landing Expectations

Here at Heritage Landing Alternative School, we believe that students do well if they can.  Therefore, we focus on individual student skills that are needed in order to be successful. Teachers, parents, and students will work collaboratively to identify lagging skills that are most challenging for each individual student in the program.  The lagging skills examined are as follows.

• Difficulty Handling Transitions/ Shifting from One Mindset or Task to Another
• Difficulty Doing Things in a Logical Sequence or Prescribed Order
• Difficulty Persisting on Challenging or Tedious Tasks
• Poor Sense of Time
• Difficulty Maintaining Focus
• Difficulty Considering the Likely Outcomes or Consequences of Actions (Impulsive)
• Difficulty Considering a Range of Solutions to a Problem
• Difficulty Expressing Concerns, Needs, or Thoughts in Words
• Difficulty Understanding What is Being Said
• Difficulty Managing Emotional Response to Frustration so as to Think Rationally
• Chronic Irritability and/or Anxiety Significantly Impeding Capacity for Problem-solving or Heightening Frustration
• Difficulty Seeing the “Grays”/Concrete, Literal, Black-and-white Thinking
• Difficulty Deviating from Rules, Routine
• Difficulty Handling Unpredictability, Ambiguity, Uncertainty, Novelty
